How are the results affected by using the JSx SW without James instead of with James?

The JSx SW improves your results with or without James! A lot of our research is done with images that weren’t captured with any positioning tool and we could more than double the measurement reproducibility. However without James you are not invulnerable to perspective errors and follow ups are probably influenced by them.

Does the software support bilateral images?

Yes, JSx supports bilateral images. You can select which knee should be analyzed directly in the software.

How do I know what is the right placement for the LMs? When do I have to correct the automatic placement?

The correct placement is described in the manual. However the automatic placement presicion is very good for the majority of the images. The important factor is that the placement within a study or a analysis center uses the same method.

When do I use the batch mode? Are there any problems with it?

The batch mode is very useful when analyzing a great number of images. It detects the LMs and analyzes each of the selected image. When you confirm or correct the position afterwards, you have shorter loading times. Even more time can be saved when using the IB Lab BMAx™ software. After the LMs are placed and checked, the texture parameters can be calculated automatically. When analysing bilateral images you can select the image side, which shall be analyzed. This works also fine with the batch mode.

What operating system is recommended?

The software is tested for Windows 7, 8 and 10. We recommend Windows 7 due to the fact the verification and validation was performed under that system.

What do I need the Joint Space Area (JSA) for?

The JSA is much more stable against inaccurate contours and is also a very sensitive parameter for follow up comparisons.

How can the IB Lab software improve my diagnosis?

IB Lab JSx™ offers a standardized, objective joint gap analysis, which keeps errors to a minimum. Also the clearly increased sensitivity of the joint area measurement regarding changes in the gap width enables a follow up accuracy never been there.

Where can I get an IB Lab analysis supported service?

You can ask your orthopedist or radiologist for it. If he/she not already features it, he/she can download it via our homepage. Alternatively you can see a list of physicians, which offer theIB Lab analysis here on our HP under the Products/IB Lab JSx™.

My physican does not offer the IB Lab analysis. How can I recommend it to him/her?

Just tell your physician about the IB Lab analysis and refer to our download section. Or write him/her a mail with a link to our homepage. A model mail will be implemented soon.

Why is the use of James so important?

Using James, our positioning tool for standing knee acquisitions, reduces the negative effects of different and wrong perspectives to a minimum. There is a certain position that allows an effective joint space measurement. James ensures this position and is able to reproduce it also after years. This is essential for follow up studies. With James the measurements and analyses of your knee x-rays become drastically more meaningfull, which allows a much better adjusted treatment.

Can the software be customized for any specific study design requirements?

Yes, it can be used for various study designs. Users have multiple options of data analysis based on the data export file.

What kind of medical disease can be evaluated by the software?

The primary field of medical application is the assessment of bone diseases like osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis. Texture algorithms provide a comprehensive source of information on the overall bone health status. Based on that, any kind of bone abnormalities, like trabecular degradations, fracture risk, bone cysts and bone marrow lesions can be investigated.

Is there a possibility to compare the obtained results with other radiological measurements, like MRI or CT?

The calculated data can be correlated with outcomes of alternative measurement sources. For this purpose, it is important for the user to always compare the same regions of interest when using different systems.

Are there any statistical output parameters calculated?

Users obtain a report that includes information about the calculated joint space parameters, the Kellgren and Lawrence Score as well as different textural parameters, providing a comprehensive assessment of osteoarthritis. Further statistical procedures are to be decided by each user individually.

How is the data output provided?

Data will be exported in a csv-format, where the size of the data depends on the number of selected analyses. The exported data can be further used in conventional software evaluation tools like SPSS.
